Hey, folks. I’ve been listening to and loving Art Brut for about a year and a half now. After all this time I’m still delighted by the funny, smart, rockin’ music and impressed by talent and workmanship that must have gone into the making.
In particular, I love about AB: Of course, Eddie Agos’ wit and delivery are hilarious, entertaining, and generally awesome. He was the first aspect of the act that I noticed and loved.
And despite playing with such a funny and charismatic singer, who could easily overwhelm, for me band shines through. They’re tight and nuanced, they really rock and sing nice harmonies. I love the sound of 3 guitars, and the fact that, despite all these players on stage, there’s still lots of space and contrast within the music.
Finally, the sound of the recordings: I love AB records’ clear, vivid, balanced recording and mixing! (seems to me records that sound as good are rare nowadays for some reason) Ever instrument and voice can be heard clearly on Bang Bang, with no one sound covering over another. Yay, what a great record!
My only criticism is, for me, on ‘Complicated’ the message of Argos’ lyrics feel more nihilistic/emotionally empty, than Bang Bang, which makes it hard for me to listen sometimes.
In general, what acomplishments! Horray and thank you AB!
