Truth.

No way near as good as the first album. Lyrically the themes seem a bit, er irrelevant (which I never thought I’d say concerning the Brut.) Guitar work is rather nifty, and everything is smart. The first album had something to prove, this one didn’t as such. It won’t do theit career any harm, but won’t earn them critical acclaim at the same time. About as ground breaking as an earthquake measuring 1 - 2 on the Richter scale.

Overall I’d say;

6/7 / 10 if I had to.

Woah Woah Woah.

I’d like to point out I absolutely adore Art Brut, and I feel it is my duty as a fan to give an honest account of the record. I think it’s a rather upsetting when you can’t do this on a forum, without feeling like guy fawkes. This has had two replies. None of any substance or debate. I look at the other thread saying it’s amazing - over 10 replies. Even some dare go as far to say it’s better than the first (evidently not.)

I wouldn’t say I was upset, kind of disappointed (cliche alert.) in the sense that I thought that Art Brut as a band would attract more intelligent robust music loving fans than this (unless they haven’t shown up yet.) Eddie Argos is an great song writer/lyricist/comedian/witter, the band are superb musicians. Second album syrdrome is a hard thing, that not many bands get perfect. By this point I feel I’m going of track and becoming inane so I;ll end this post.

x

would be nice to see Eddie reply.

This is where I’d engage in some form of pseudo snobbiness but can’t be bothered.

Each their own I suppose…

SPLITTER.

Also is that a Martian Manhunter avatar? I can’t see, even with my glasses, the avatars are too diddy.

I dont know much about the martian manhunter apart from he was head of the jli and acted grumpy like batman, whats his story?

keith i read both the batman comics you leant me and neither really ended or made sense,i remember that with the last batman comic I read,i think im out of touch.

I like the fact we’re all talking about dc comics, perhaps it should have its own seperate bit of the forum.

Yeah, I think the “Son” one is just a normal story, with an extra story tacked on the end for no real reason that confuses people.

The one with the fella coming back from the dead though, you’re right, makes pretty much no sense grin

on a side note, the Wilburys just got mentioned on the radio with the phrase “you thought it could never happen, BUT IT HAS!” grin

oh, and is that a stupidly small , fashion obsessed, seinfeld?

I couldnt work it out,Jason todd the second robin has come back from the dead for no reason, with no proper explanation, although in the introduction it claims we’re on our 4th robin and why is green arrow saying sorry to batman? I do like the fight in the art gallery though.

In batman and son,i presumed that his son had killed him and we were now in the future and he was batman, but as none of the characters were explained i couldn’t really work it out.

There is an explanation but it doesn’t make much sense either

“when Superboy-Prime alters reality from the paradise dimension in which he is trapped (six months after his death), Jason is restored to life and breaks out of his coffin, but collapses thereafter and is hospitalized. After spending a year in a coma and subsequently as an amnesiac vagrant, he is recognized by Talia al Ghul, who restores his health and memory by immersing him in a Lazarus Pit in which her father Ra’s Al Ghul is also bathing”

and come to think of it, doesn’t really explain anything very well either.

apparrently he becomes nightwing for a bit too.

Martian Manhunter information because I can’t be arsed to type it all out.

Also Keith, I’m pretty sure he’s not afraid of fire as he’s a shape-shifter.  If bullets go through him I’m fairly certain fire doesn’t burn him.

And he looks fucking cool.

No keiths right I was reading a comic with him in yesterday, fire is the equivalent of wood, kryptonite or the colour yellow too him, that big android monster thing that was designed to destroy the justice league had fire specifically to get at J’onn.
