It took me years to tell the difference between Margaret Thatcher and Margaret Sanger. It had caused a series of embarrassing moments in history class.
One good thing she’s done is help my side win an after dinner round of Pictionary one Christmas when I was 11ish. My aunt drew a womans face and curly hair, and for some reason I said “Margaret Thatcher!”, not really knowing much about her. From that my mother got ‘Conservative’, and we went on to win the game. The rest of the family thought we’d cheated on that one.
Well, while I appreciate the fact that she stole our milk and sold off the country, the fact that she was elected into power says alot about the failings of democracy, in my opinion. Some people, perhaps, shouldn’t be allowed to vote! More to the point, though, I like the fact that I can go online and find my Mum wishing death on decrepit old women. Makes me kind of proud.
